Rejoicing in the Day

The wind whistles merrily
As he skips along his way,
Warm in the sunshine
Rejoicing in the day.

He stops to pat a little dog,
To race a proud blue-jay,
Laughing and singing,
Rejoicing in the day.

He sees a fallen leaf,
Picks it up from where it lay,
Teaching it to dance and fly,
Rejoicing in the day.

The wind passes over me
As I walk along the roadway,
Stops to ask where I’m going,
Rejoicing in the day.

He asks me if I can dance
Then leads my soul astray,
So now I laugh and sing,
Rejoicing in the day.
