Mia’s Day

The air screams with silence,
As stars fall from the sky,
Clear dawn breaks,
Colour washing away the grey
Of the snowy town below.
Smoke from stony chimneys
Twirling and churning
Combining in the air.
A bell chimes,
Breaking the silence,
A sound of cheer
Calling all to awake,
To run into the light,
Rejoice in the new day.
Rejoice in the new life
That came in the night.
“Happy Birthday, Mia!”
Cries heard everywhere.

  1. Mia is one of my online friends. Her birthday is Christmas Day, and I wanted to give her a special birthday present since she’s always so nice about reviewing my poetry!
