Shifting the Planes
Shifting the planes
Of reality
Perceived;
Art mixed
In the machinery.
Pick a rose
For a distance love,
Shaped with pixel care.
Read the icons
Of music and dance
Trapsing across the screen.
Shift the focus,
Click a key,
Grey turns green;
Art married
To electricity.
Sail a Chinese junk
Across a sea
Of linear blue.
Watch new life
Rotating through
Time and space.
What is art?
I answer you:
An eclectic tapestry
Woven deep
In an electron dream.

This poem was written in late 1991, during a time where I was deep in study of virtual reality theories and fascinated by all-things sci-fi and cyberpunk.
