The Dead Shall Live
For that brief moment
In which dreams go on forever,
The dead shall live
Like they never died.
But then they must return
To their spirit world
As we, the living,
Awake in our beds.

For that brief moment
In which dreams go on forever,
The dead shall live
Like they never died.
But then they must return
To their spirit world
As we, the living,
Awake in our beds.
I dreamt this poem. In the dream, a friend who died when we were teenagers spoke the first 4 lines to me, the remaining lines coming to my mind as I awoke. Written in the late 1980s.
